which parts of maui and the big island on hawaii are greener/wilder/better for hiking away from mass tourism?
wanting to spend a few weeks in hawaii. the idea for me is to really be out in nature, hiking, doing my thing (landscape photography). Besides the beaches, looking for green, lush, amazing scenery- I know there’s a lot of it there- just don’t know which areas are best bet. thanks in advance!

Maui is the best island by far for scenery and things to do.
Try a drive around the island. There are some amazing landscapes. Also, try a zip line expedition. They take you through 2 miles of lush hiking.
Consider mauiadventures.com. I get you want to do your own thing. But the best way to see what you want is by expedition.
