The term postmodernism refers to the art, literature, politics, social philosophy and other aspects of contemporary society. The American Heritage Dictionary define postmodernism: "Of or relating to art, architecture or literature that reacts against earlier modernist principles, as by the reintroduction of traditional or classical elements of style or by carrying modernist styles or practices to extremes. "
Postmodernism is often referred to art in which the line between painting and sculpture is often blurred. These artists take, borrow, steal, recycle and previous sample classics and modern. They combine or modify these images to create new contemporary pieces. They also work with and combine artistic, scientific, technological, the media and digital Internet tools.
While postmodernism and postmodern art has been around for only 50 years before that, the artists living and working in accordance with its principles.
