Settings on a Canon Rebel XTI?
i took several photography classes in college as a fine arts major, conventional and digital, and i am currently having a problem with my canon rebel xti. i dont like to shoot on auto (i HATE the flash, is there a way to turn it off??) and i always shoot in RAW format. lately, when trying to do portraits, my shutter speed is way too slow. ive tried fixing everything, and it will take a picture, then go black and pause for a good 20-25 seconds before making the clicking noise and showing the picture. even with a tripod, these pictures arent usable.
what problem could this be? ive changed the shutter speed, f stop, everything i can think of. any suggestions?
It sounds like you have been successful in the past doing what you are doing now, but now you are getting different results.
If you are shooting indoors without a flash, that might be an issue unless you are getting some bright sunlight in from a window.
Is there any chance that your self-timer is accidently set On? It could be a combination of that and slow shutter speed?
If you could post the actual shutter speed, aperture and ISO setting it might help. Also post your view on well lit the scene is.
