Digital Photography How To Books

How do I use the manual focus option on my Sony Alpha A330?

This is my first DSLR. All the books on photography at my local library are before digital cameras were mainstream. And I can’t go out buying tons of books [though I'd LOVE to do so]
Whenever I try to switch to manual mode and focus it’s just too blurry, it won’t even let me snap the picture. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, or not doing something right. Any help?? Thanks.

You may not have 20/20 vision.

You need to adjust the little dial next to the optical view finder. Focus on something far away, i.e. infinity, and if it doesn’t look sharp, turn the dial until you see it sharply.

This is called diopter adjustment.
