Photography – Elements of design?
Wondering what are the main Elements of design in photography and what each of them mean?
In photography the elements of design are Line, Shape, Value, Color, Space, and Texture.
Line is a point moving in space, the angle of a shot changes the lines in a photograph, lines can be straight, curved, vertical, horizontal, etc..
Shape is when a line meets itself, photography is the 2-D expression of a 3-D form, a shape can be either geometric or organic.
Value is light versus dark in a photograph.
Color also includes light versus dark but it’s more about color hues and levels of intensity and saturation.
Space is near and far relationships in a photograph, positive versus negative space.
Texture is when you can take a photograph of an object that has texture, and in the photograph you can remember the physical sensation of that texture.
