Backwoods hiking stun gun agains bears.?

I do photography in the backwoods and would like to carry a stun or taser gun for use against bears that I cant peacefully get away from. Also with lots of expensive equipment i worry about being robbed while i am out on my own in cities and camping. Is it legal to carry in Colorado and Kansas and do you think its a good idea in case of emergency?

The taser isn’t practical against bears. A taser must have electrical “continuituity” between the contact darts to work. Their hair is too thick for the taser darts to reliably lodge in flesh. Therefore no continuity can be maintained between the contact darts, and no shock occurs.

A “stun gun” is not a gun at all, but a handheld device that must be TOUCHING the animals skin to work. You don’t wanna get close enough to a bear to touch it’s skin with a stun gun.

A better solution for non-lethal bear protection is a can of “Bearguard”. This is a 100% solution of oleoresin capsicum.

(Police use 10% to 20% O.C. pepperspray THIS is 100%!!!)

Bearguard and similar products spray a fire-extinguisher-like volumous cloud of O.C. Spray. –
Not the little squirt-gun stream police use, which must be aimed at the eyes and face of the assailant. At 10 feet this thing is covering a six to seven foot circle with withering, writhing pain inducing chemicals that make the target wish it’d never seen you, period.

In testing it repelled Alaskan Grizzly bears every time it was used on them. Can’t beat that!

Now if it’s 5 times as powerful as police O.C. sprays, I’d imagine it’d deter thieves as well. The fact is, it would put them in a serious world of hurt. It might even restrict their breathing to such an extent as to render them unconscious.
