Photography Assignments For Beginners
Why did my film turn up blank?
I’m taking a photography for beginners class at my college and we’re required to use a 35mm manual camera. My friend, who’s an experienced photographer, lent me her one of hers and – since she’s been sick – she has not been able to show me how to work it, but I printed out a manual for it.
I have a assignment due on Monday, so today I went out and bought some film, loaded it, took some shots, and then went to go get it processed. When I came back to get it only three of the pictures had developed – the rest were blank. I did everything the manual and my textbook told me to do. What did I do wrong?
It’s hard to know what you did since you didn’t describe what you were shooting, under what lighting conditions, or what exposures and settings you used.
All I can assume, w/out that detail, is that you either severely overexposed or underexposed your shots and that they were totally washed out or totally dark and therefore looked blank.
