Every writer has a favorite book or author to help in their quest to become a better writer. For me, it randomly Mitchell Ivers' Home Guide to Good Writing that has inspired me to write and write well.

Ivers Book "identifies what is good writing, voice and tone of writing, and plot structure, grammar, and more. What I like about the book is that Ivers writes in a style that is easy to follow and not full of verbiage: Ivers goes straight to the point to give examples. So when you read a "Guide to Good Writing" will come away wanting to write not have to write. In other words, which some instructors to be a chore, Ivers clearly replaced with the joy of writing.

Ivers writing exercises "are particularly useful in helping writers develop their own style. Random House style manual is included as an appendix to the book. Moreover, Ivers includes examples of Poe and Emerson, two of my favorite classical authors. Reread POEA is a "mask of the Red Death" and you will be inspired, if not a little scary!

The I checked with Amazon and the book remains in print, is a large pocket business and investment that can have only six dollars.
