Are there any free courses offered by the photograph?
I am a research writer by profession. A few years ago as part of an exercise portfolio regularly to improve my skills, I decided to learn photography. I felt I could be added to a feather in my cap of achievements. I made a on a mission to find a photography school apt. One school of photography that does not Wipe me off my years of savings and deliver the goods as promised. I can not find one? That's part of another story.
However, there are some key findings that I think I need to share with people around that do not end up committing the same mistakes I did. For example,
1) I recommend photography as a career only for those with an artistic sense and see the beauty beyond of what your eyes can see.
2) If you've been looking out for free courses on photography, let me explain what these actually are. The Most calls photography schools try to offer a course of low-cost and less valued for free to generate leads. The moment you are in school try to up-sell some of the more expensive courses that people eventually end up buying. This is purely a marketing gimmick.
3) If you are totally new to photography and have never handled a camera in your life, I recommend you start with a school that provides these core courses. This first step will help launch their career.
4) As a next step, I recommend a career specialization in photography. When you say you're a photographer, you can not win much credibility. This is like saying you're a scientist. What people may be interested in is whether you are a nuclear scientist, say a rocket scientist or biologist. If you are unsure of the specialties available in photography, here are some: Portrait photography, wedding photography, motion photography, fashion photography, landscape photography, sports photography, underwater photography and even photography wrist. The list goes on.
5) While learning a new skill, the classrooms are certainly not an advantage over their online counterparts. This does not undermine the effectiveness of online schools. However, a classroom-based live session, is more effective in terms of clarifying questions and share ideas. Regular classes are in actual practice, while study the concepts of lighting, composition and other basic necessities. If time is an obstacle to an end, you can always opt for these online versions.
On a final note, I reiterate the fact that the photograph may be the most rewarding career you could never choose. By learning the basics, make sure they get it done the best in the business. Any course that can provide hands on training with real life situations should be your first choice of selection. I wish you all the best for a bright and illustrious career.
