The coastal route between Aberffraw and Llanddwyn is the most untouched and visually attractive area of the island of Anglesey, it is also my favorite landscape photography location on the island. After leaving the beach behind the Aberffraw Anglesey Coastal Path passes through several with little interest in landscape photographers. The Maltreath achieve however, the situation improves significantly. Between now and the beaches are awesome Llanddwyn, miles of beautiful sand, virgin – a paradise for landscape photographers you might say. Photo opportunities are numerous, though the best are closer to Llanddwyn Island.
Although known as an island, is really just Llanddwyn isolated at high tide for a short time. The island has much relevance to the landscape photographer – two great lights, both with the stunning backdrop the mountains of Snowdonia. Of the two lighthouses, I personally prefer the latest, which is located at the tip of the island and the beach below provides a position Ideal for getting the perfect shot. Also in summer the sun sets directly behind the lighthouse improving the already impressive backdrop. Other features of the Llanddwyn Island include the ruined abbey ancient and modern, but old looking crosses, one Celtic and the other America. Both are in top positions and offer even more creative options for landscape photographers. The holistic view from the island is simply stunning too, especially when searching against the Wales peninsula and the many mountains of Snowdonia. As an added bonus, the island (and the beach Llanddwyn itself) is a perfect place to catch the sunrise and sunset pictures and for those interested in wildlife photography, the island is inhabited by their own wild horses, if you're lucky, it raises very well against the scenic background.
Llanddwyn leaving the island and follow the coastal road along the shore of Anglesey Llanddwyn not mean that the photographer needs to put his camera. The beach is full of character, perhaps more at low tide. Huge sand dunes line the beach and the nearby forest is next to her. At low tide the beach is a mass of sand, many of them complete certain texture and detail to catch the eye of the landscape photographers. Closeup of interest to landscape photographs wide angle is easy to find as is the opportunity to enjoy a few macro photos. The beach is even more impressive because of the ever-present backdrop always mountain to the bottom of the Snowdonia National Park. Towards the end of the long beach, as we approach the Menai Strait, the mountains are much more in perspective, a good wide angle lens to capture some great detail and contours. Across the Menai Strait and is imposing Caernarfon Castle is also visible, albeit at a distance requiring using a powerful telephoto lens to ensure effective capture of a photograph.
