Ugly myspace pictures?

Why is that these myspace pictures taken by somebody holding a camera above their heads or taken in front of a mirror so the flash covers their face are so popular. I can’t image people think these are good photos. Doesn’t anybody know how to use a tripod and a timer? Heck I’ve seen a few people who claim to love photography take pictures this way. All I can say is “Quoi?!”

And what’s with all the pouty faces even on the guys? It boggles my artistic mind.
