Photography Printing Paper
what is the best photo paper to use?
I am just looking into starting up a business in photography, but to print out good photos i obusivly need a good printer and good photos. But what photo paper would you say is appropiate for proffessional photography?
There are a good number of quality photo papers. Alot depends on the look you are going for. They can be Matte, glossy or the newest for inkjets is fiber based papers that give a look similar to old resin coated photo print paper I have used Moab And Inkpress with good results. As important as paper selection to get good results is matching the inks to the paper , some work better with dye others work better with pigment ( most will tell you pigments last longer and that dyes give you better color both of the concepts are being challenged in more recent reviews as they make long lasting dyes and use smaller particle size in pigments for better color, but I digress ) . Check with your printer manufacturer for paper recommendations. Also calibrate you Monitor and Printers color spaces. Some paper manufacturers can give you printer profiles ( called ICC profiles) for output that can help with this. Moab’s ICC page is here http://www.moabpaper.com/icc-profiles.aspx
Do a search for fine art papers and read up on them. There are a bunch of articles on papers and inkjet output on www.shutterbug.com
I would at first try several of the better papers Moab, Inkpress, Sihl, Sunset by lexjet etc and find which one you like best
