Photography Printing Supplies

New to photography….what to buy?

Hello all,

I have decided that I want to get into photography, just for fun. I want to buy a 35 mm camera used for black and white photography, and buy all of the necessary supplies to develop and print my own pictures.

I have already read up on what kind of equipment is needed for development and printing (the enlarger seems to be pretty important) but dont know the specifics on what to get.

I am asking for suggestions on what kind of 35 mm camera to buy (used or new) and an enlarger, and where to buy them. I want to spend less than $500 total on EVERYTHING, and there are many other supplies needed in the darkroom so keep this in mind.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Goosey
Is the clock needed in addition to a timer? Does the timer control the enlarger or just indicate to me when to turn it on and off?
Does the book mentioned in the second response cover printing, and enlargers, as well?

That is a huge question. You need to spend some quality time in the library for complete satisfaction…in the mean time check this…
