Photography Class over the Summer?
I want to take a photography class over the summer, to determine if I really want to pursue photography in college. I want the class to be in NYC. I looked into the SVA and NYU programs but they are too expensive. I heard that CUNY and SUNY colleges run classes. Does anyone know of a good class? Or has taken one of this classes? Thank You

Most community colleges that have photo classes are quite reasonable, less than $300 for a three unit class. Summer is an excellent time to take photo classes, since the pressures of other classes are gone.
I will assume you have the right camera for the class you intend to take. If traditional photo, the cost of a good used 35 mm SLR with standard zoom lens will cost about $150 or less. If you need a DSLR for a digital class, then plan on paying at least $450 for the camera and standard lens. P&S cameras are out of the picture because you have no control over the exposure or lens choice (shutter speed, aperture, interchangeable lenses, etc)
