How many self-taught professional photographers learn so quickly?
What is the fastest way to move photography techniques and develop an "eye", without enrolling in a photography school? It seems that many senior professionals have taken this route and got there very quickly (check out Joey L, for example … that dominates his office in less than two years … self taught). I'm talking about reaching the level of photograph of the work for which you see in popularity billboards and magazine ads, not just your run-of-the-mill, garden variety wedding photographer. I feel I've been stuck in mediocrity for years and I can not seem to break.
Just thought I would this announcement. If you have Photoshop, then you can look into it. Since most of the market has made the transition to digital, then photoshop is your darkroom. I also realize that many of the now called photographers use Photoshop too, but can be a useful tool when used the right way. When I look at the photographers in my area, most of their work aside technical things like correct contrast, midtone adjustment, white balance adjustment, and most never dominate the exhibition. Another thing I realized that my own work, is that even if you have a great eye, a lens will work much better. I bought a pair PRIME LENSES that I love, and it works very well to reduce the depth of field. With a wide repertoire of skills, the more you can do and it gets better. The best way to improve your work is like joining forums to try to learn new things. I am learning new things every day. It may be true that the school teaches you many things, but I, by far, I learned lot on my own.
