Used Photography Equipment For Sale
can you help me sort out my photography dba name?
I want to get into photography as a profession. For now I plan on doing local sports, in game action shot sales, to generate some income for lighting equipment and more lenses for other types of photography.
After a year or two I definitely want to get into portraits and weddings.
my problem is this:
Eventually I do want to turn my hobby into a sole proprietorship, but am unsure as to what name I want to use. I just don’t know if my name is “photographyesque” enough.

Robert S. Marshall Photography
Bobby Marshall Photography
or some other “doing business as” name that doesn’t use my actual name? I have a couple ideas for names that don’t involve my name. but it seems that to have an image in photography I need to use my name.
My name just seems to normal to me (well, I have had it for 37 years)..lol
any advice?
I think choosing the DBA would have to be determined by what sort of people you’d want to attract, what sort of attitude do you want to portray?
Bobby Marshall sounds more friendly and laid back, casual, youth.
Robert S. Marshall sounds more like a doctor.
Bob Marshall gives me the impression of an older man who out-grew “bobby”
Robert Marshall is a nice medium between Bobby and Robert S. Marshall
